A Collector’s Apartment In New York

The owner of this apartment on the Upper West Side in New York is a mid century modern art and furniture collector. The interior designers are Jayne and Joan Michaels, two sisters in love with colors.

The Michaels sisters find inspiration for their interiors choices in paintings, yes…if they think of a painting that could work well in the space they are decorating, they keep it in mind to reproduce the colors in the room/s using furniture and art; a very interesting approach.

Also in this case they got inspired by the paintings around the house while the furniture came from the owner’s mid century modern pieces collection; apparently quite extensive!

Check below the pics to see the origin of some of the pieces and if you like this apartment you should also check the mid century modern homes page!

In the whole house they used a Benjamin Moore White 01 in Satin Impervo for the wood work and an egg shell finish for the walls.

The sofa was designed in the 50s by Ward Bennett.

I perfectly agree, but in my experience often you just have to keep it simple and have a clear idea of which mood you want the room to “communicate” :)

      Thanks for stopping by Nickarmadillo!

      Ciao,
